How Vrbo fees work

Vrbo (short for Vacation Rentals by Owner, now part of Expedia Group) gives hosts two ways to pay:

  • Pay-per-booking: a commission of about 5% plus a payment-processing fee of about 3% on each reservation. You pay nothing when you're not booked, which suits seasonal or new listings.
  • Annual subscription: a flat yearly price instead of commission, with processing still charged. It rewards high-volume listings.

On top of that, guests pay Vrbo a traveller service fee at checkout. It doesn't touch your payout, but it's part of the total guests weigh against the same home on Airbnb, where most hosts now pay the full 15.5% host-only fee and guests pay no separate service fee.
